You are in control of your thoughts

For the majority of my life, I believed my thoughts were outside of my control. They would just enter my mind and change my day with no resistance from me.

What made it even worse is that I believed that I was what I thought. And that was why I struggled so much in life.

Thankfully, I woke up one day and discovered that nothing could be further from the truth. I wasn't my thoughts, and neither are you.

Actually we are the "thinkers of our thoughts," the creators of our thoughts. Given this fact, we CAN change these thoughts if we choose to do so.

This realization was one of the major turning points of my life, an epiphany of sorts. It made me aware of my thoughts, and awareness must precede change. I started filtering my inner dialogue, and eradicated any negative or self destructive thoughts that entered my mind. I became the gate keeper, and I only allowed positive, constructive thoughts to flow into my mind. I also began to pay attention to the quality of my thoughts.

Over a matter of months I trained my mind to focus on positive, constructive, inspiring thoughts. And the changes I accomplished internally showed immediately in my external life. My life began to change for the better.

You are not your thoughts, therefore you are not your moods either.

Don't give up your power to choose.

Don't live reactively or blame external factors for your thoughts or moods.

You are 100% in control of both.

If you choose to do so, you can create a feeling of peace in a moment of stress, joy in a time of sadness, and energy during a time of fatigue.

Remember that Awareness precedes change.

Take 2 mins to write down your moods and thoughts and what affects them. This is the first step in change. Once you realize what is triggering bad thoughts and moods, you can take control because you have made yourself aware of the problem.
